CDS是Coding sequence的縮寫，是編碼蛋白產物的序列，是結構基因組學術語。

CDS，是編碼一段蛋白產物的序列。

CDS必定是一個ORF（開放讀碼框），但也可能包括很多ORF。反之，每個ORF不一定都是CDS。

Openreadingframe(ORF)-a reading frame that does not contain a nucleotide triplet which stops translation before formation of a complete polypeptide.

Codingsequence(CDS)-The portion of DNA that codes for transcription of messenger RNA.
