美國佛羅里達州人，從小在母親的支持下，5歲開始唱歌，14歲就開始寫歌；國中高中時期，積極參加合唱團，和不斷的寫歌作詞等。在寫歌作詞的音樂之路上，他雖然一直默默無聞，但卻從不放棄自己的寫作才能，終於他寫作的歌曲被華納兄弟看中，之後為一些有名歌手寫歌，打響了自己的知名度。
