SEXUAL BEHAVIOR IN THE HUMAN MALE
Kinsey, Alfred C. SEXUAL BEHAVIOR IN THE HUMAN MALE. Philadelphia & London: W. B. Saunders, 1948. First edition. Original maroon cloth, gilt. Some wear, but a nice copy of this landmark study that has had lasting influence. Preceded by numerous animal studies, moralistic marriage guides, several narrowly focused human research studies, and less than comprehensive study by Sigmund Freud and Havelock Ellis, `The Kinsey Report' was the first comprehensive study of human sexuality ever published, and made sex a subject that could be talked about openly. Using 5,300 male subjects (and nearly 8,000 female subjects in the second volume published in 1953), Kinsey compiled over 1,600 pages of data; then he rolled over and went to sleep. When the Grolier Club decides upon their `One Hundred Influential American Books of the Twentieth Century' this study is certain to be included.
