菸鬼樂隊成員安德魯·塔格特在一次航班上構思出了該首歌曲的Drop。受到搖滾樂隊The XX和天空大爆炸的作品啟發後，菸鬼組合將帶有回音效果的吉他音加入了歌中。隨後，埃米莉·沃倫和斯科特·哈里斯和菸鬼樂隊在一起寫出了完整的旋律和歌詞。
直到歌曲要完成時，安德魯·塔加特依然沒有想到找誰來錄製該首歌曲的人聲。在聽了黛雅的《Hide Away》之後，菸鬼樂隊將她邀請到了錄音棚錄製了歌曲的人聲部分。
