早年經歷
麗莎出生在一個富裕的家庭，父親是腦科專家和內科醫生，母親是個旅行經紀人。高中就讀於加利福尼亞Woodland Hills的Taft High School，大學就讀於Vassar College，攻讀生物科學，打算從事父親的事業。Kudrow鑽研研究了父親創辦的研究所的醫學有八年的經驗。
麗莎從很小的時候就已經顯露出表演天賦，她可以背誦歌舞劇《屋頂上的小提琴手》中大段大段的台詞，假裝扮演劇中角色，她曾在好幾個場合表演過《屋頂上的小提琴手》，她的一個老師至今仍然記得麗莎的出色表演。不過在大學畢業前，麗莎從來沒有想過演戲，她描述當時的想法說：“演員看起來都很愚蠢、虛偽，我看到他們在脫口秀里討論他們個人生活中的難題。當然，我們每個人生活里都有一些難題，沒人生活在(以粉飾太平出名的)五十年代的電視劇里。但演員更多地受到這些難題的困擾，我因此覺得這個職業比較笨，可能會把我變成一個不稱職的母親或妻子。”麗莎最後終於成為演員純屬偶然，大學畢業後她本來想回家協助父親進行醫學研究，但在洛杉磯，她遇見了她哥哥的一個朋友，喜劇演員約翰·洛維茨。洛維茨當時剛加入《周六直播秀》劇組。正是他喚醒了麗莎心中希望表演的小女孩天性。洛維茨鼓勵麗莎去洛杉磯著名的即興表演團體“底層”(Groundlings)劇團試鏡。麗莎一開始並沒有能加入該劇團，不過她已經決定要將表演作為終生事業。
被“底層”劇團拒絕後麗莎開始專門學習表演，她的老師是著名的即興表演教師辛西婭·奇格第，她在跟隨奇格第上課時認識了當時還默默無聞的科南·奧布萊恩。麗莎在奇格第的指導下進步很快，她終於在1989年被“底層”劇團錄取，並開始逐漸得到觀眾和同行們的認可。
演藝經歷
在“底層”闖出些名堂的麗莎漸漸得到了一些在電影和電視中亮相的機會，這其中最引人注目的是1992年開始在海倫·亨特主演的《為你瘋狂》中扮演的餐館女招待厄蘇拉。麗莎的轉機出現在1993年，當時製作《為你瘋狂》的美國全國廣播公司(NBC)認為麗莎前途無量，於是鼓勵她在該公司其他電視劇中扮演更重要的角色。麗莎隨即加入了《歡樂一家親》劇組，不過她很快同劇組鬧翻，也丟掉了在該劇中的角色。但正因為此，麗莎獲得了她演藝生涯中最重要的角色，厄蘇拉的孿生妹妹，《老友記》中的菲比。菲比一角給麗莎帶來了巨大的聲譽，她因為逼真到位的表演(那的確是表演，想想麗莎同菲比的巨大差異)而在1998年得到了艾美獎喜劇類電視劇最佳女配角獎。在珍妮弗2002年封后之前，這一直是《老友記》六名主演得過的唯一艾美獎。
麗莎從螢屏向大銀幕轉型也相當的成功1997年與奧斯卡得主米拉·索維諾（Mira Sorvino）搭檔出演了《阿珠與阿花》（Romy and Michele's High School Reunion）次年影片《性對立面》（The Opposite of Sex）中表現大獲好評還獲得紐約影評家獎。
個人生活
1997年，麗莎·庫卓入選《人物》雜誌“全球最美50人”榜。
1995年5月27日與從事廣告業的麥可·斯特恩（Michael Stern）結為連理三年後兒子朱利安·默雷.庫卓.斯特恩（Julian Murray Kudrow Stern ）出世一家三口現住洛杉磯。
麗莎的丈夫是法國人米切爾·斯特恩，他從事廣告行業。麗莎說，她在1987年遇見米切爾的時候米切爾正在約會她在瓦薩學院的室友。麗莎說她當時想：“他真棒，但我跟他沒戲。我沒有正面看過他，也沒有跟他說過話，他當時覺得我很可愛，但有些古怪。”
麗莎1995年在一次野餐上重新遇見了米切爾，兩人迅速擦出火花，並於當年5月完婚。麗莎說：“他討厭巴黎，這太讓人傷心了。我喜歡同他呆在一起，我們坐飛機見面，在一起吃飯、共度良宵，然後再分開。”
麗莎和米切爾的孩子叫朱利安，一家三口住在洛杉磯。麗莎說她起初擔心會因為孩子而放棄事業。她說：“我有不少朋友在生孩子後都停止了工作，但後來我意識到她們對自己做的事情並不太熱情，可我不一樣，我喜歡自己的工作，在懷孕三周的時候我還飛到紐約同德尼羅和比利·克里斯托爾拍電影，你怎么能拒絕這個邀請?帶著三周的身孕上飛機讓我覺得有些負罪。但後來我就看開了。我意識到讓孩子不高興的不是媽媽要去紐約拍電影，而是我感到負罪。”
麗莎說她比丈夫掙錢更多並沒有影響他們的婚姻生活，她說：“演員就是掙錢多，而金錢帶來的安全感對婚姻很重要，許多婚姻都是因為缺少金錢支持而無法維持，我很高興我不用為這件事而擔心。”
在Friends里，Phoebe懷了她弟弟的三胞胎，實際上當時Lisa懷了她自己的孩子Julian.Kurdow.Stern
她原本是深色的頭髮，是專門為演Phoebe而染成金色的。
麗莎·庫卓
麗莎·庫卓Lisa是左撇子。Lisa曾多次被美國雜誌評為“著裝最差”，不過多數都是因為Phoebe，而不是她自己。
Lisa有生物學士學位。
Lisa是撞球高手，精通很多高難度的擊球訣竅。
1997年被People雜誌選為50個最漂亮的人。
拍攝Phoebe和Ursula同時出場時，Lisa的姐姐Helene Sherman Kudrow演了Phoebe/Ursula的背部。

如果六人中一人離開Friends，她也會不演了，Friends有名的“all or nothing policy”就是她想出來的。
