劉妍岩，教授，武漢大學理學博士，主要研究方向機率論與數理統計、分形幾何。主持國家自然科學基金（青年）《變尺度隨機分形結構的理論及套用》一項。

1999-2005年武漢大學數學與統計學院任副教授;
2004年被聘為武漢大學博士生導師;
2005年至今武漢大學數學與統計學院任教授;
2000年6月訪問香港中文大學;
2000年7-12月訪問德國Earnst-Moritz-Ardnt Universitat of Greifswald;
2004年3月-2005年4月訪問美國北卡羅來納大學教堂山分校(University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill);
2007年3月-8月訪問美國北卡羅來納大學教堂山分校(University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill);
先後到香港中文大學、德國Greifswald 大學訪問。1997年參加的研究項目《軟體可靠性專家系統》（第5完成人）獲國家教委科技進步三等獎。
