Silas Fernandes and his mini guitarSilas Fernandes, born June 14, 1967, is a virtuous guitarist, music producer and music teacher. He is the idea creator of the famous course of Set-Up held at EM&T (School of Music and Technology) where he also teaches guitar at IG&T (Guitar Institute of Technology).
Silas Fernandes is one of the leading exponents of the representative generation of the instrumental rock vein, he developed his musicianship by the heavy music and sounds of the virtuous of the genre.
In these 25 years of his career, has traced many paths, whether as a guitar instructor (IG&T), producer, business consultant and guitarist who has worked with several names on the market.

He started in music in his teens playing in heavy bands of the legendary "metal scene" of Sao Paulo surroundings, as the band Esfinge alongside Andreas Kisser, the one that was to become the guitarist of Sepultura.
Immersed in records with names like Randy Rhoads, Judas Priest and Steve Vai, Silas armed himself with techniques, skills and poison along with the necessary aggression who legitimizes the heavy sound.
From there he began his teaching career by releasing video courses and teaching, besides idealizing the hard rock band "Smocking Guns" and playing in the Gospel Rock band "KatzBarnea".
A meticulous producer, as a musician always remained up to date in bands styles and tricks that involve music production, having worked as a "guitar tech" of renowned artists like the Raimundos, besides having formulated the famous Set up course of EM&T and become an official clinician of "Nux" pedals.

He maintained his solo career in workshops and clinics throughout Brazil, parallel to his work with the band S.T.A.B, releasing three instrumental albums, being that his second album NO APOLOGIES was a milestone in fusion with elements of electronic music (like the ones coming of industrial music and of "drum 'n' bass") with heavy guitars, which featured part of the sonic scenery of the new millennium.
To celebrate his 14 years immersed in instrumental music Silas launches his new work: 14 YEARS, where he retrieves songs from his first three albums, some newly re-recorded with a new reading and others just remastered, added to new bangers that link to heaviness and aggressiveness that made his history.
Fans of heavy music will wear the shirt of this new work of Silas, fiercely banging to the sounds of songs like "Metal of Deafness", where irregular timings, arpeggios at lightning speed and heavy riffs stand out.
Perhaps it may not be an exaggeration to say that this is a work that exhales freshness and indifferent of the monotonous pile of discs from the vast majority who ventures in this field!

Silas Fernandes started his career in 1984 beside Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA), playing at Esfinge, a cover band from São Paulo. In 1991, Silas won a golden medal for being the best guitar player at FICO (Internal festival of Objetivo High School). He developed some own projects and was a sideman for several artists and bands, as Katsbarnea (one of the greatest Gospel bands in Brazil), touring throughout Brazil, until 1995.
His first album, ‘Silas Fernandes’, was released in 1995. In 1996 he recorded his first instructional video “Talking about guitar”.
In 1999, Silas Fernandes released his second album, called “No apologies”, an instrumental work with a very interesting mix of drum n’ bass, heavy metal, techno and funk. Magazines such as Cover Guitarra and Guitar Player were unanimous in saying that this was a great album.

In 2001 Silas wrote the book “Guitar and Technology” (not published yet), which became a set up course at GIT(Brazil), which is led by Silas himself.
Silas is Nux pedals and Loud luthiers endorsee, writes educational columns in magazines such as Guitar Player and Guitar Class. He performs clinics, work shops and pocket shows in schools and music events. In 2002, he released his educational method “Developing the style – Melodic heavy metal”, a great success with one thousand copies sold in one year period, within Brazil.
Silas is a guitar player, music producer and teaches at GIT at EMT (School of Music and Technology).
In 2004, the album ‘G.U.I.T.A.R.’ was released, which counts with Silas participation, beside great names of Brazilian guitar players, such as Edu Ardanuy, Faiska, Mozart Mello, Joe Moghrabi, Miche Leme, and others.
His most recent project is his metal band S.T.A.B., with the first album released in March 2007.
His fourth solo album will be released in September 2009.
