創作背景
《God is a Woman》是《Sweetener》最後一首完成錄製的歌曲。在愛莉安娜·格蘭德選用這首歌前，這首歌曾被美國女歌手卡米拉·卡貝洛試聽，但並未採用。薩文科·特查決定將這首歌交給像加拿大男歌手奧布瑞·德雷克·格瑞漢的饒舌歌手來演唱，但是歌曲的名字為“上帝是個女人”，所以該歌曲的詞曲作者製作人認為一個女歌手演唱會比較好。
愛莉安娜·格蘭德在舉辦專輯《Sweetener》試聽會的前兩天來錄音室閒逛，製作人伊利亞·薩爾曼扎德給愛莉安娜·格蘭德放了這首歌。愛莉安娜·格蘭德一聽鐘情，回家就寫出了歌詞，隨即錄製了這首歌。
