Although research on video face recognition started earlier, breakthrough progress benefits from the innovation of video capturing devices and development of image and video analysis and processing technology.Addition of application fields has boosted the development of video face recognition，such as,identity verification for physical and logical access, face synthesizing, and face rendering.Application fields range from public security to the fields of entertainment，education，etc. Compared with face recognition using a single image，video face recognition uses more face images. Compared with face recognition using multiple face images, it considers temporal and spatial continuities between successive faces.All these make it show good application prospects under unconstrained cases.However, the factors influencing face recognition using a single face image and using multiple face images will still influence it. Furthermore,some new problems definitely increase its difficulty.
