創作背景
《7 Years》來源於樂隊主唱盧卡斯·葛拉漢的人生經歷以及對未來的美好憧憬。歌詞中最終將他的年齡寫到60歲是因為其父親在61歲時去世了，他需要過這一道坎並相信未來。這首歌的內容是關於成長的，特別是當他30歲或60歲的時候，或者當他有孩子或妻子的時候，做一個好父親是盧卡斯覺得最重要的事情，而他最大的夢想就是不要去做一個消極的老傢伙。
因為盧卡斯的製作人Rizzy在盧卡斯睡午覺時彈鋼琴，從而使盧卡斯有了該曲的靈感。同時，樂隊成員Lovestick與Don Stefano問了盧卡斯一些關於“成長”的問題，盧卡斯就把這些想法寫進了歌曲里。歌曲是用鋼琴進行伴奏的，夾雜了一些節拍。
