1981年畢業於西北輕工業學院。1986年國家教委公派留日，1992年獲日本名古屋工業大學電及計算機工程學博士，同年進入日本通產省工業技術院(AIST)任主任研究官，1998年任終身教授級主任研究官。
曾兼任瑞典林雪平大學物理系客座研究員，日本愛知工業大學研究生院客座教授，中科院廣州能源研究所特聘首席科學家等。先後發表各類論文170餘篇，著書3部，申請國外專利33項，獲授權11項，受邀國際學術會議報告十餘次。
主要研究方向為節能環保有關薄膜與納米材料。長期從事新型智慧型節能窗與貼膜的基礎研究及套用。
