燦亮麗鯛，本魚分布非洲坦乾伊喀湖。見於湖的北部（坦尚尼亞），沿著湖岸（金果馬以北）。棲息於熱帶（24~26攝氏度；南緯4度~南緯6度）淡水湖泊中底層，深度10~30米。
