毛峽教授主要從事人工智慧、模式識別、情感計算、人機互動以及紅外目標檢測、跟蹤、識別和評價等領域的研究。主持國家自然科學基金項目、863計畫課題、教育部博士點基金優先發展領域項目、北京市自然科學基金項目、航空基金項目、航天支撐基金和國際合作項目等10餘項，並主持了中國載人航天工程部分項目及其它多項橫向課題。在國內外重要學術期刊和會議上發表論文公開發表學術論文140餘篇，出版國內外專著4部，申請專利60餘項，其中已授權20餘項，軟體著作權1項。社會兼職包括中國自動化學會理事，女科技工作者工作委員會主任委員、IEEE、IEICE會員，中國電子學會高級會員，擔任IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics、Neuro Computing、Optical Engineering、IET Image Processing、Journal of Visual Languages and Computing，Infrared Physics & Technology, Knowledge-Based Systems等國際期刊的評審專家。獲高等學校科學技術研究優秀成果技術發明二等獎一項，北京市優秀教學成果二等獎多項。

毛峽，留日博士，教授，博士生導師。毛峽教授研究室隸屬於北京航空航天大學電子信息工程學院電子科學與技術一級學科，在情感計算和人機互動領域有多年的科研積累。毛峽教授主持了國家自然科學基金項目4項、863計畫課題、教育部博士點基金優先發展領域項目、北京市自然科學基金項目、航空基金項目、航天支撐基金、中國與羅馬尼亞政府間科技合作項目、中日國際科技合作項目等多項基金課題和國際合作課題，並主持了中國載人航天工程部分項目及其它多項橫向課題，為學科的發展做出了重要貢獻。
課題組在國內外公開發表了150餘篇學術論文，其中30餘篇被SCI收錄，多篇被EI和ISTP等收錄，在人機互動領域頂級國際會議ACMCHI2009，AAMAS2011，ICPR2014上發表學術論文，在ICMI2009多模互動國際會議上所發表的論文被選為最具創新性的四篇學術論文之一，並在美國麻省理工學院（MIT）進行大會宣講。課題組已出版國際專著（章節）3部、國內專著1部，申請專利60餘項，其中已授權20項，軟體著作權1項。已培養博士後3名、博士14名、碩士50餘名，其中多名博士生獲博士研究生創新基金項目，人均發表SCI收錄論文2篇以上，並且毛峽教授曾應邀為光明日報新開專欄“新知”撰寫開篇文章《情感計算》（2011年2月15日第12版）。
2011年10月，以卡內基梅隆大學Manuela Veloso教授為團長的美國國家科學基金會（NSF）代表團對毛峽教授領導的人工智慧與模式識別研究室進行了訪問，並對課題組的研究水平給予了高度評價：“毛峽教授領導的課題組是一個優秀的研究團隊，課題組的研究成果已在頂尖國際會議及期刊上發表，具有出色的表現。
此外，課題組非常重視建立可作為標準的公開資料庫。課題組在人機情感互動領域的研究在中國獨樹一幟”。
毛峽教授曾獲2012年高等學校科學技術研究優秀成果技術發明二等獎、北京市優秀教學成果二等獎多項，獲北航教學成果一等獎多項，多次被評為“學生心目中最愛戴的老師”，獲“西飛獎教金”一等獎。社會兼職包括中國自動化學會理事、女科技工作者工作委員會主任委員，IEEE、IEICE會員，中國電子學會高級會員，擔任IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics、Neuro Computing、Optical Engineering、IET Image Processing、Journal of Visual Languages and Computing，Infrared Physics & Technology, Knowledge-Based Systems等國際期刊的評審專家。獲高等學校科學技術研究優秀成果技術發明二等獎一項，北京市優秀教學成果二等獎多項。
