李國祥，1965年10月生，江蘇贛榆人，博士；現任中國科學院南京地質古生物所研究員，博士生導師。長期從事寒武紀動物大輻射時期的生物、地層及環境背景等相關領域的研究。先後同德國柏林理工大學、瑞典Uppsala大學、美國加州大學San Barbara分校、Virginia Tech大學、Hanover學院、俄羅斯科學院古生物研究所等單位的同行學者開展了廣泛的國際合作研究。現為國際寒武系第二階、第三階工作組委員，國際埃迪卡拉系--寒武系界線工作組委員，國際寒武系分會通訊委員，江蘇省古生物學會常務理事，古生物學會微古分會理事。

1988年7月畢業於北京大學地質學系，
1991年於南京地質古生物研究所獲理學碩士學位，
2000年獲理學博士學位。
1991年起在中國科學院南京古生物所工作至今。
2002年1月至2002年4月在美國TULANE大學作博士後訪問研究。
2004年2月至2005年7月在德國馬普學會的資助下，在柏林理工大學作訪問學者。
主要從事
主要從事寒武紀早期後生動物骨骼化石(小殼化石、磷質腕足類）及生物地層研究。先後同德國柏林理工大學、德國自由大學、法國里爾大學、瑞典Uppsala大學、美國加州大學San Barbara分校、Virginia Tech大學、俄羅斯科學院古生物研究所等單位的同行學者開展了廣泛的國際合作研究。多次參加國際學術大會，並作學術報告。 發表科研論文近百篇。
研究領域
1) 寒武紀早期微小骨骼化石的系統分類研究； 2) 離散骨片化石的骨片系重建研究；3) 早期磷酸鹽化球狀（動物胚胎）化石；4) 寒武紀地層的區域及洲際對比研究；5) 寒武紀後生動物爆發性輻射模式及環境背景。
