簡介
徐遠通教授是泛函微分方程學術帶頭人並培養了一批博士和碩士，在中立型泛函微分方程等研究領域成功解決了前人提出的多個猜想及公開求解的問題，為計算機信息網路、核反應動力學、生態學及經濟學的建模分析提供理論依據。
1994年其研究項目獲廣東省自然科學獎二等獎、廣東省高校科技進步一等獎。“九.五”期間承擔了國家自然科學基金重點項目《泛函微分方程及分枝問題》，研究工作在同行中有一定的學術影響。
1988年以來被美國數學會聘為《數學評論》評論員。
1995年任中國數學會第七屆理事會理事。
1998年至2005年任國家教委第四、五屆科技委員會數理學部委員。
