大學概述
威尼斯大學誕生於1868年8月6日，當時一批卓越的知識分子成立了威尼斯大學的前身，皇家高等商學院。初期建設者中有法學教授以及義大利前總理路易吉·盧扎蒂、威尼斯省副主席愛德華多·德奧達蒂以及威尼斯大學第一任校長弗朗切斯科·費拉拉。威尼斯大學是義大利第一所專攻商科與經濟學的高等院校，另外，為充實經濟學與商科等學科的學習，威尼斯大學自建校起就把外語納入到重點學科範圍里，教授語言既包括西方語言（法語、英語、德語、西班牙語和現代希臘語）也有東方語言（阿拉伯語、土耳其語、塞爾維亞-克羅地亞語和日語）。
1935年，威尼斯大學開設經濟貿易學院，當時的威尼斯大學已成為一所國立大學機構，1994年該學院更名為經濟學院。1954年，學校設立了義大利第一個外國語言與文學學院。1968年，此時正值建校一百周年，威尼斯大學成為一所正式的大學，大學名稱前加有“Università degli Studi”。1969年，威尼斯大學文學與哲學學院誕生。1970年，工業化學學院成立，之後更名為理學院。
威尼斯大學如今約有2萬名在校生，每年都有大約4000名學生畢業。威尼斯大學分為語言、人文科學、經濟與科學四個學科領域，共設有八個學院。2012年威尼斯大學設立了專門面向優秀學子的精英學院“威尼斯國際大學（Collegio Internazionale Ca’ Foscari）”。大學內另外還設有威尼斯大學挑戰學院（Ca’ Foscari Challenge School）為學生提供廣泛的專業碩士課程（Master）以及威尼斯大學國際學院（Ca’ Foscari International School）為國際學生提供義大利語語言與文化課程以及暑期學校課程。

威尼斯大學尤其重視國際交流與合作，大學已經與美國、加拿大、澳大利亞、英國、中國、日本等世界上200多所高等院校簽署了相關的學術交流和合作協定，其中包括澳大利亞國立大學、墨爾本大學、悉尼大學、巴黎大學、京都大學、烏得勒支大學、賓夕法尼亞大學等世界知名學府，並與美國哈佛大學、哥倫比亞大學合作開展暑期學校，與法國巴黎索邦大學、英國倫敦大學學院等世界知名學府開展本科雙學位項目。在與中國的合作方面，威尼斯大學已經與中國的北京大學、中國人民大學、對外經濟貿易大學、中國社會科學院、南京大學、中國傳媒大學、華東師範大學、首都師範大學、天津外國語大學等國內名校開展了相關的學術交流和合作項目。
