委婉法(Euphemism)是指為了策略或禮貌起見,使用溫和的,令人愉快的,不害人的語言來表達令人厭惡的,傷心或不宜直說的事實,這樣的一種修辭手段。
例如：
1.The greatest living thinker ceased to think.當代最偉大的思想家停止了思想。(Here “ceased to think” is an euphemism for“ died”.)
2.He's a bit off his head.他有點精神錯亂。(euphemism for "he's a bit crazy")
