《基礎數論》
The first part of this volume is based on a course taught at Princeton University in 1961-62; at that time, an excellent set of notes was prepared by David Cantor, and it was originally my intention to make these notes available to the mathematical public with only quite minor changes. Then, among some old papers of mine, I accidentally came across a long-forgotten manu* by Chevalley, of pre-war vintage (forgotten, that is to say, both by me and by its author) which, to my taste at least, seemed to have aged very well. It contained a brief but essentially com- plete account of the main features of classfield theory, both local and global; and it soon became obvious that the usefulness of the intended volume would be greatly enhanced if I included such a treatment of this topic. It had to be expanded, in accordance with my own plans, but its outline could be preserved without much change. In fact, I have adhered to it rather closely at some critical points.

【作者】
徐遲（1914.10.15—1996.12.13）原名徐商壽，浙江吳興人。1931年至1933年，曾先後就讀於蘇州東吳大學和燕京大學。1933年始寫詩。1936年出版第一部詩集《二十歲人》。抗戰期間，曾與戴望舒、葉君健合編英文版《中國作家》，協助郭沫若編輯《中原》月刊。同時創作並翻譯了大量文學作品。抗戰勝利後，一度回故鄉教書。全國解放後，先後任《人民中國》（英文版）編輯、《詩刊》副主編。1960年調湖北文聯從事專業創作。出版詩集有《二十歲人》《詩歌朗誦手冊》《共和國的歌》等，小說散文合集《狂歡之夜》，散文集《法國，一個春天的旅行》《徐遲散文選集》等，文藝評論集《詩與生活》《文藝和現代化》，報告文學集《哥德巴赫猜想》《結晶》等。出版譯著有《瓦爾登湖》等十三種。
