由主唱Darren Hayes以及樂器演奏Daniel Jones二人於1994年在澳大利亞的布里斯本組成的Savage Garden，其成名史始於他們在1996年發行了其首支單曲I Want You。這首將電子旋律與放克吉他搭築而成、充滿前衛未來風格的單曲，不僅一推出即造成澳大利亞流行音樂市場的一片轟動，成為該年度全澳最暢銷的單曲，更被一位剛好造訪澳大利亞的美國DJ給帶回了美國加以強力推薦，並迅速獲得熱烈的迴響。最後，隨著令人眼睛一亮的音樂錄影帶的強力曝光推波助瀾下，I Want You迅雷不及掩耳地強勢登上了全美單曲榜第4名，自此攫獲全球樂迷的目光。
