“U.N.K.L.E”不是一支固定的樂隊，而是英國著名Abstract Hip Hop/Experimental Hip Hop廠牌Mo'Wax的老闆James Lavelle策劃的一支結集諸多大牌明星（不是小甜甜和麥Psyence Fiction當娜之類的明星）的玩票樂隊。

1998年發表專輯《Psyence Fiction》參與專輯製作的人物全都不是小人物，其中包括“Radiohead”的主唱Thom Yorke、Verve的主唱Richard Ashcroft）、“金屬”樂隊的Jason Newstead、Badly Drawn Boy、Dj Shadow等人。
毫無疑問，他們的第二張專輯《Never，Never Land》或許是在2002年最令人驚喜的一張專輯了。無論是從編曲還是從旋律 上，UNKLE已經走在了英國流行音樂最頂尖的浪潮之中，而James Lavelle作為UNKLE的主腦人物則開始了他對於UNKLE的另一輪音樂體系重建。
在2002年後，James Lavelle將其對音樂的關注度完全放在了電子舞曲的角度之上，並在英國著名廠牌Global Underground之中發表了羅馬尼亞和巴塞隆納的兩次演出現場專輯，以其對音樂的獨特品味和精湛的DJ技術征服了舞曲音樂界眾多評論家的耳朵。
2006年，UNKLE在Global Underground廠牌下發表了一套四張的混音作品合輯，這4CD的作品同樣也在商業和藝術上均取得了廣大舞曲音樂愛好者的一致好評，無論從風格還是從製作上來說，都讓人感覺UNKLE已經是一支非常成熟的電子樂隊。
但07年發行的專輯《War Stories》又讓人無法將之歸類於一張電子風格的專輯。
