French Kicks 是一支來自美國紐約的indie rock樂隊. 他們的音樂是garage rock, post-punk和modded pop的混合體.樂隊由四名成員組成，最初的三名成員為 貝斯手Jamie Krents, 主唱兼鼓手Nick Stumpf, 和 副主唱兼吉他手Matthew Stinchcomb，三人均來自華盛頓。他們的早期音樂風格受到盛極一時的hardcore的影響。三人在大學之前便一起組成樂隊，後來一同進入俄亥俄州Oberlin College，繼續一起做音樂。大學畢業後，三人搬到Brooklyn ，新成員Josh Wise 加入，擔任和聲兼吉他手， 樂隊正式成立。
1999年，在Luna Lounge on Manhattan's Lower East Side進行首次演出後，樂隊在My Pal God旗下推出自己首張同名EPThe French Kicks 。進行多場演出後，他們簽約Startime International，並於2001年推出一張EP the Young Lawyer. French Kicks在某場演出中結識了The Vue and The Walkmen。2002年，樂隊推出首張完整專輯One Time Bells. Jamie Krents 於次年離開樂隊, 貝斯手由Nick的弟弟Lawrence Stumpf擔任。 之後，他們參加了WRMC 91.1 FM's annual music festival. 2004年,他們發表第二張專輯The Trial of the Century。 為了專心演唱，Nick放棄鼓手職位，樂隊開始頻繁更換鼓手，直到他們遇到Aaron Thurstonof 。2005年末, Stinchcomb宣布退出樂隊。
