近年來，在能源緊缺的大背景下，以矽材料為原料的太陽能光伏產業快速發展。同時，隨著套用領域的拓寬和科技的不斷發展，矽產品逐漸替代了塑膠等眾多原材料，套用領域廣泛，其市場前景極為廣闊。
然而，由於生產技術難度大、生產規模小、工藝技術落後、環境污染嚴重、耗能大、成本高，為數不多的國內幾家生產企業，產能與生產技術都與國外有較大的差距，根本無法滿足龐大的國內需求，大量進口又會使得我國的相關產業受制於人。矽材料的技術研究成了當務之急。
針對這一現狀，2008年，雲南宏盛錦盟企業集團和昆明理工大學共同組建了雲南省矽材料技術研究院，由中國工程院院士戴永年牽頭，組織研發隊伍，共有院士1名、特聘教授1名、博士生和碩士生導師5名、研究生30餘名，具有較強的科研實力，二年來，研究院在真空冶金法製備多晶矽、金屬矽還原劑替代、高純矽粉生產、工業矽節能減排等方面取得了重大突破，在矽材料研究方面處於國內領先水平。

Yunnan Silicon Materials Technology Research Institution
In recent years, the solar photovoltaic industry with silicon materials as raw material has developed rapidly due to the energy shortage. At the same time, with the broadening of the application and technology development, silicone products are gradually replacing many plastic and other raw materials, which shows that silicon products have extremely capacious market prospect.
However, due to the big difficulty inproduction technology, small production scale, outmoded production technology, serious environmental pollution, high energy consumption and high cost, the small quantity of domestic production enterprises are inferior greatly to foreign enterprises in productivity and production technologies, unable to meet the huge domestic demand. But to import silicon products would make our related industries enslaved to foreign companies. So, in China, silicon technology research has become a pressing priority.
For this situation, Yunnan Great Union Group and Kunming University of Science and Technology jointly set up Yunnan Silicon Materials Technology Research Institution. Organized by Dai Yongnian, academician of China Engineering Academy, the powerful research team, including one academician, one specially invited professor, five doctoral and master students mentor, and over 30 post-graduates has formed. The institute has made key breakthrough in vacuum metallurgy for polysilicon preparation, metal silicon reductant substitution, high-purity silicon powder production, industrial silicon energy saving and emission-reduction, and is in the leading position in domestic silicon materials research.
The cooperation of private enterprises and universities to jointly build silicon materials base combining production and research initiated the integration of silicon materials production and research in China, which will undoubtedly promote scientific and technological achievements transformation and the sustainable development of hi-tech industry in China, as well as laying a solid foundation for the development of Yunnan Great Union Group.

怒江宏盛錦盟矽業有限公司成立於2005年6月27日，位於怒江州瀘水縣工業園區，註冊資金5000萬元，經營矽石開採、矽冶煉、矽材料精深加工、礦產品購銷等業務。
公司建設的十萬噸矽工業基地是怒江州“十一五規劃”的重點項目之一。2009年啟動的年產100噸“真空冶金法多晶矽”項目是怒江州“黨政‘一把手’工程”。

Located in the industry park of Lushui County in Nujiang State, Nujiang Great Union Silicon Industry Co., Ltd. was established on 27th, June, 2005 with registered capital of 500 million Yuan, and dealing with silica exploitation, silicon smelting, silicon materials processing, purchase and sale of mineral products and so on.
The Silicon Industry Base of 100 thousand tons constructed by Nujiang Great Union Silicon Industry Co., Ltd. is one of the import projects of Nujiang Eleventh Five-Year Plan. The project of producing polysilicon by vacuum metallurgical method, which started in 2009 with annual output of 100 tons, is one of the Nujiang Party and Government Leader Projects.
Adhering the belief of improving quality, expanding production scale and branding operation, and positively facing challenges from domestic and international market, the company plans to build the silicon industry chain and logistic platform in Yunnan, turns the silicon advantage into economic advantage and creates a brand of Yunnan Silicon within three to five years.

The expanding pilot project of polysilicon preparation by vacuum metallurgical method with annual output of 100 tons has been started in 2009.
Making use of abundant and high-qualified silicon mine, water and power resources and strong science and research capability, Nujiang Great Union Silicon Industry Co., Ltd. actively promotes the industrialization of its own innovated technology. Based on the present input of 15,000 tons of industrial silicon for production, it will realize the output of 100,000 tons of industrial silicon, 60,000 tons of highly refined silicon powder and 10,000 tons of solar battery polysilicon in five years.

Nujiang Great Union Mining Investment and Development Co., Ltd. mainly deals with mining investment management, mining exploitation, purchase and sale of mining products and so on. In order to meet the Group demand of silica to smelt into 100,000 tons of industrial silicon, the corporation adopts many measures to guarantee the supply to Great Union Silicon Co., Ltd. according to its actual production demand and conform to market-oriented principle. It has gradually realized the annual output of 400,000 tons of silica, which guarantees the demand of the silicon company of the Group, meanwhile, it managed to sell silica mining to customers outside the Group, achieving the goal of increase in both output and profits.
