陳勇民

陳勇民(Yongmin Chen)是美國科羅拉多大學(博爾德校區)(Universityof Colorado at Boulder) 經濟學終身教授。陳勇民教授是一位專長於產業組織學(產業經濟學)的著名經濟學家, 其研究領域包括價格理論,縱向產業結構,創新與智慧財產權,反壟斷及競爭政策,以及國際貿易的產業組織。他在這些和其它經濟學領域發表了許多有廣泛影響的論文(已在國際頂尖期刊發表論文40餘篇)。陳勇民教授在產業組織學界享有重要國際聲譽,現擔任 International Journalof Industrial Organization (國際產業組織學雜誌)主編, RAND Journal of Economics (蘭德經濟學雜誌)副主編。他是中國教育部長江學者(產業經濟學),國家“千人計畫”入選者,並曾擔任美國聯邦通訊委員會顧問。美國科羅拉多大學(博爾德校區)經濟學系有陳勇民的完整簡歷。

主要經歷

1961年出生於浙江湖州。1982年2月本科畢業於浙江工業大學機械工程專業,取得工學士學位。在浙江工業大學任教三年後,1985年去中國人民大學工業經濟系讀碩士研究生。1988取得碩士學位後到美國波士頓大學學習,1992年經濟學博士畢業。先後在聖路易斯華盛頓大學商學院和科羅拉多大學(博爾德校區)經濟系任教。2001年在科羅拉多大學(博爾德校區)評為享有終身教職(tenure)的經濟學副教授,2005年升為正教授。曾在香港科技大學、上海財經大學、復旦大學、浙江大學等校擔任客座教授、兼職特聘教授。

研究成果

在經濟學和產業組織學國際頂尖期刊上發表了40餘篇論文,其論文已在Google Scholar中累計引用3000餘次。
陳勇民作為唯一作者或與人合作的學術成果,主要包括以下方面。(1)價格理論:他的 “Paying Customers to Switch” 一文,是基於消費者購買歷史的動態定價理論的開創性文獻。在2007 年出版的權威的 Handbook of Industrial Organization(Vol.3)中有4頁多篇幅(1991-1992頁;2251-2253頁)專門討論這一論文。他對這一領域新的貢獻還包括提出了一個非對稱企業動態價格歧視的理論,以及對企業動態定價方式的新解釋。他還對消費者搜尋與價格競爭進行了研究,在 “Paid-Placement: Advertising and Search on the Internet” 一文中提出了有關競價排名 (paid placement) 的新理論。他與合作者對價格理論的最新研究包括論文 “Interpersonal Bundling”, “Discount Pricing”,和 “Differential Pricing When Costs Differ: A Welfare Analysis”.(2)智慧財產權與創新的經濟學理論:在 “Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation in Developing Countries”一文中,發現了智慧財產權保護力度與經濟發展存在一種U型關係,並由此對開發中國家智慧財產權的法律保護提出了政策性建議。他進一步在行銷創新,縱向市場結構與創新,契約關係與企業創新,智慧財產權保護與競爭政策等方面,做出了新的理論貢獻與政策分析。(3)產品差異化理論:在 “Price and Variety in the Spokes Model” 一文中,建立了第一個非局部競爭的產品差異空間模型,並在 “Price Increasing Competition” 一文里找出了產品差異化市場中因企業數目的增加導致市場價格下降或上升的充分必要條件。(4)企業縱向合併和縱向產業關係:他的 “On Vertical Mergers and Their Competitive Effects” 一文,解決了縱向合併理論中的一個重大問題,被收錄於EdwardElgar Publishing 2008年出版的經濟學經典文庫中。他進一步在縱向分離(Vertical Disintegration),排它性契約(Exclusive Dealing)等方面提出了新的理論。(5) 國際貿易的產業組織:在“Trade Liberalization and Strategic Outsourcing”中,發現了貿易自由化以前不為人知的一些潛在影響。他又對出口貿易產品種類(export variety)等國際貿易問題做了新的研究,並解釋了知識資本在企業選擇對外直接投資或外包中所扮演的重要角色。(6)多產品企業的競爭理論:他在 “Equilibrium Product Bundling” 一文中,提出了產品捆綁銷售的均衡理論。他在新的論文中找到了捆綁銷售盈利性的一般條件,並提出了消費者偏好與多產品市場競爭及效益的一般關係。(7)信息非對稱條件下的企業行為: 在 “Promises, Trust, and Contracts” 一文中,提出了一個關於承諾與誠信對契約和效益的影響的理論。在“Inattentive Consumers and Product Quality” 一文中分析了面對非完全理性消費者的企業行為。(8)經濟學與法的研究,發表的論文包括:“Refusal to Deal, Intellectual Property Rights, and Antitrust”, 和“Ex ante Investment, Ex post Remedy, and Product Liability”。
