神聖母親，印度近代史上著名精神人物，又稱米娜氏，全名Mirra Alfassa，1878年2月21日出生於巴黎，其父親為銀行家Maurice Alfassa（ born in Adrianople, Turkey in 1843），母親為 Mathidle Ismaloun（born inAlexandria, Egypt in 1857），其出生前一年父母全家由家鄉遷至法國 。成年後，神聖母親因為與印度近代史上三聖之一的室利阿羅頻多（Sri Aurobindo）共同創建主持阿羅頻多修道院和阿羅頻多學院大力推廣宣揚大全瑜伽而舉世聞名。1973年12月17日神聖母親在印度阿羅頻多修道院仙逝，享年95歲。被稱為“當代玄奘”的我國著名學者徐梵澄先生曾在阿羅頻多學院主持華語工作幾十年，並有專著詳細介紹神聖母親和室利阿羅頻多。

平生
“母親”密那氏（Mira）為室利阿羅頻多學院的另一精神大師，被尊為院母，“神聖母親”或“母親”，皆表尊敬義。她是法國人，生於1878年，寂於1973年。密氏出身貴族，從小多才藝，後傾心於精神哲學，致趣於玄秘學術。曾想遊歷中國，恰逢當年中國正值北洋亂世，所以未能如願。往日本時，途經法屬南印度之琫地舍里，遇在此避難並隱居的室利阿羅頻多，兩人論學相契。後母親由日本返回巴黎，變賣房產，籌措款項，於1914年3月29日（此被定為該院之重要節日）再度登岸南印度，從此開啟了長達六十年的偉大的精神事業。
1926年，阿羅頻多退隱，母親遂全面主管院務，她親手把一個“阿施藍”（修道院）建設成為世人矚目並敬仰的“阿羅新城”。由她所翻譯的阿羅頻多重要著作有若干種，然這《母親的話》，則是她自撰的文字和講說。甘地曾經讀過該書並嘆曰：“此滴滴甘露也！”
