人物生平
生於費城。在底特律修道院受過教育。十餘歲就登台演出。1905年首次在百老匯演出，不久就成為舞台上和早期無聲片中出色的悲劇演員。但在二十年代的戲劇和三十年代的好萊塢影片中，她卻成為了一位著名的喜劇演員，擅長扮演放蕩、不拘小節的妻子和各種輕浮的女性。以在喜劇片《寵仆趣史》中的演出最為叫絕!
