毛江玉，研究員，博士生導師。1965年12月生。1988年畢業於北京大學地球物理系天氣動力學專業,獲理學學士學位；1988－1995年在內蒙古自治區氣象局從事短期氣候預測業務及相關科研工作；1998年在北京大學獲碩士學位；2001年於中國科學院大氣物理研究所獲博士學位。自2001年7月起在中國科學院大氣物理研究所大氣科學和地球流體力學數值模擬國家重點實驗室從事科研工作。2003－2004年和2006年先後訪問香港城市大學。對過渡季節副熱帶高壓形態變異與亞洲季風爆發的關係進行了系統研究，提出了“季節轉換軸”的新概念和表征夏季風爆發的新指數；發現西太平洋颱風是觸發南海夏季風爆發的機制之一；揭示了熱帶大氣低頻振盪（MJO/ISO）對江淮流域夏季降水季節內變化的影響以及對颱風生成的調製作用。揭示了南海夏季風季節內振盪的主模態及其年際差異以及華南初夏降水的年際和年代際變化。已在國內外核心期刊發表論文70餘篇。
曾主持中國科學院知識創新工程重要方向項目和多項國家自然基金面上項目，現擔任973項目課題組長以及《氣候與環境研究》編委。
