楚劍，男，博士，長江學者講座教授、重慶大學土木工程學院博士生導師。美國愛荷華州立大學 (Iowa State University)終身講席教授 (James M. Hoover Chair Professor)，長期致力於岩土本構關係、岩土試驗、沿海減災和災後修復及軟基加固技術的研究。擔任國際土力學和岩土工程學會“海岸岩土工程防災減災”技術委員會主席以及“地基處理委員會”執行委員等多職。在國際學術期刊和國際會議上發表科研論文280餘篇，其中SCI論文107篇，EI論文22篇。合作專著1本、編著7本，撰寫書籍章節12章。論文在Google Scholar上的引用次數超過2300，H-index為26。受邀在40多個國際會議上做主題或特邀報告，並在2009年由國際土力學和岩土工程學會委任在17屆國際土力學和岩土工程大會上在發展水平報告。任岩土工程學報和其它9個國際學刊編委或副主編，主持多項來自政府和企業的總計千多萬美元研究經費的科研項目，並於2004年榮獲加拿大岩土工程學會頒發的R. M. Quigley獎。多次受邀作為中國教育部評選長江學者的外籍評審人和荷蘭技術基金會科學研究計畫評審人。
