林欣，1978年到1982年在上海科技大學學習，獲得學士學位，畢業後，於1982年至1985年在福建師範大學化學系任助教一職，1985年至1988年在中國科學院北京研究生院學習，獲得碩士研究生學位，現任清華大學醫學院教授，基礎醫學系主任。

林欣教授的研究興趣涵蓋免疫學的幾個方面，前期主要研究轉錄因子NF-B活化過程的相關信號通路，探討其在T淋巴細胞活化、炎症反應、以及腫瘤發生中的作用及其機理，系統地研究了T 淋巴細胞受體激活途徑及調節T淋巴細胞激活的信號通路。
