【內容簡介】
When Frank, a Glaswegian shipyard worker, is made redundant at age of 55, he falls to pieces and broods his life away until one day, Danny, a friend of his, jokes that, if he liked, he could swim to France across the English Channel. But the idea, crazy as it sounds, finds an echo in Frank's mind and he soon decides he will do it, thus giving his shattered life a new meaning. Hiding his plans from Joan, his loving wife, who incidentally is taking lessons to become a bus driver without Frank knowing it, he starts training with three of his friends as dutiful coaches.
