目前研究主要集中在高性能地學計算、空間建模和套用、時空大數據分析、地理信息系統平台開發等方向上。

科研項目

作為項目負責人先後主持了“十一五”863計畫項目 、國家自然科學基金面上項目；作為課題負責人主持了“十二五”科技支撐計畫重點項目，“十一五”國家科技支撐計畫“城市空間信息基礎設共享關鍵技術研究與示範”,中國地質調查局地調項目”地質調查信息格線平台研製”、“地調生產調度指揮平台”項目；先後參加了“十一五”863項目“格線地理信息系統及其重大套用”、“十五”863項目 “面向網路套用的構件化嵌入式地理信息系統技術的研究與開發”、“面向網路海量空間信息的大型GIS”等研究工作。

教學情況

開設的本科和研究生課程有“地理信息系統原理”、“3S技術與集成”、 “網際網路地理信息系統”、 “數據結構算法與套用”、“高性能計算”，教學過程中將最新科研內容引入教學中，注重教學方法和學生的實際能力培養。指導的本科畢業設計多次獲得湖北省優秀學士學位論文。
