over my head

over my head，早在樂隊正式成立之前，都出生於加拿大安大略省的吉他手兼主唱Bizzy D（原名Derick Whibley）、鼓手Stevo32（原名Steve Jocz）、吉他手Dave Brownsound（原名Dave Baksh）以及貝司手Cone McCaslin於1997年的夏天，就在他們即將從高中畢業的41天之前，(也有另外的說法說離夏天還有41天,summer簡稱sum).這四個瘋狂的傢伙毅然決定組建一支樂隊，並以此為靈感，將樂隊取名為Sum41.

成立經過

經過了一年多的磨合之後，他們開始與加拿大當地的獨立廠牌Aquarius洽談契約事宜，而此時，擁有U2這樣的大牌樂隊的主流廠牌Island也對Sum41青睞有加。Island的官員對於樂隊獨立完成的電子檔案的宣傳創意印象非常深刻，因為在這一套完全DIY的宣傳檔案中，包含了Sum41充滿爆發力的現場演出實錄以及樂隊成員詼諧幽默的自白

1999年年底，他們得到了Island唱片的賞識並與該公司簽約。
