校史
19世紀晚期，在康乃狄克州的Lakeville有兩條相交叉的鄉間小路，在這個十字路口處，有一處寬闊的土地，這塊土地因它的美麗和居高臨下的景觀而著名。這塊65公頃的土地，由廣闊的田地和一些房屋組成。Maria Harrison Bissel Hotchkiss 選擇這塊地方建立了Hotchkiss學校。這塊原始的土地到今天已經發展成為了一所包括學校，宿舍公寓，課外活動場所，草坪，一條狹長秀美而壯觀的波克夏山脈和在康乃狄克州最深的淡水湖，共占地545公頃的校園。
在耶魯大學校長Timothy Dwight 引導下Maria Hotchkiss在1891年建立了這所為男孩子準備進入耶魯大學的學校。

學校設施
校園占地827英畝，校園廣闊美麗。1995年學校經過了整個和擴建。學校的教學及周邊設施齊全，包括有先進的教學樓，藝術中心，計算機實驗樓，藝術館以及擁有8萬卷藏書的圖書館。校內有4個天望遠鏡，12個施坦威鋼琴，2個冰球場，2條湖，周邊有一片森林，校園有高爾夫球場環繞，家長也可以免費在球場上打球。
霍奇基斯學校提供多元活動，例:音樂、戲劇和各項體育活動。課程有大學準備課程，幫助學生得到更紮實的教育，指導學生申請大學。學生也有機會到校外學習數月，目前有8個項目，分別可以去紐約市，落基山脈，緬因州，法國，義大利，中國大陸，西班牙和南非。
