這首快版歌中節奏的泡泡糖舞曲有別於麥當娜·西科尼之前的音樂作品，麥當娜·西科尼和史蒂芬·布雷將這首歌打造出1970年代復古情懷的味道，歌曲序列依循“I–vi–IV–V（B–G♯m–E–F♯）”。

《True Blue》擁有兩個版本的MV：第一版MV於1986年9月初在美國紐約拍攝，而為了搭配該歌曲的懷舊曲風，麥當娜·西科尼在MV中打扮成1950年代的女孩子，手舞足蹈持著絲巾和閨中密友們互相訴說著自己的私密心事，整部影片洋溢著年輕羞澀但又甜美的氛圍。此外，這支MV還使用了廣泛的主題以及許多不同的想法來詮釋歌詞中的抒情意境。第二版MV由參加此MV製作比賽的獲勝觀眾安吉拉·加西亞執導拍攝，MV的男女主人公由威廉·菲茨吉本和導演的妹妹安娜貝爾·加西亞擔任。
