創作背景

歌曲《Payphone》由魔力紅樂隊與來自匹茲堡的說唱歌手維茲·卡利法首次合作。2011年9月，《Payphone》這首歌曲作為給魔力紅的一位冬粉Nguyen Quynh Mai的生日禮物而被創作了出來。

Benny Blanco當時想再魔力紅的身上做出一個扭轉，想給魔力紅的歌加點嘻哈的元素。於是他找到了維茲·卡利法讓他寫了這首歌的Rap歌詞。而《Overexposed》執行製片人馬克斯·馬丁負責調整了該歌曲的合唱部分。該首歌於2012年在美國洛杉磯的康韋錄音室完成的錄製。

像前作《She Will Be Loved》一樣，《Payphone》猶如一種充滿流行搖滾元素的魔法，飽含復古和優雅的風格。萊文的聲音高昂，鋼琴和吉他的演奏有懷舊的味道，歌中被“傷害”的感覺真實可感。《Payphone》無論是通過極好的想像力還是通過辛勤的汗水創作，它也很像是由一群藝術家在一個錄音室錄製的，儘管他們似乎在走下坡路。
