凱蒂勒克萊爾出生在德克薩斯州的聖安東尼奧，並在美國科羅拉多州萊克伍德長大。她是三個兄弟姐妹中最小的,在一個緊密結合的家庭。她聽力有障礙並且在20歲時被確診患有的美尼爾綜合徵（Ménière's disease）。一個退化性，內在耳症，其症狀包括波動的聽力損失和眩暈診斷。 她的父親和姐姐都有美尼爾氏病。
