《If I Ain't Got You》封面借鑑了曼·雷的作品《Le Violon d'Ingres》，創作靈感來源於艾莉雅不幸墜機亡故的悲劇，以及“9·11事件”等重大事件。當艾莉雅與世長辭後，艾麗西亞·凱斯便明白了什麼重於泰山、什麼輕如鴻毛，並萌生創作念頭。艾麗西亞·凱斯創作該歌曲的目的是為奉告聽者，物質生活並不能滿足內心的靈魂。
