In this thoroughly revised and updated edition, Lenard Cohen explores the original concept of the "Yugoslav idea," illuminating the major problems, achievements, and failures of the country during its short and troubled history. He concludes by exploring the causes and the horrifying consequences of the civil war, discussing the often impotent international efforts at peacekeeping, and critiquing competing visions of Yugoslavia's future.
