本片講述了西班牙鬥牛士曼紐爾·羅德里格斯·桑切斯年輕的一生。上個世紀40代的西班牙，著名鬥牛士桑切斯（阿德里安·布洛迪飾）與女演員斯諾（佩內洛普·克魯茲飾）有著一段火一般的愛情，然後這個浪漫的愛情故事卻以悲劇靠終。1947年，30歲的桑切斯死於一場鬥牛比賽中……
