本課題組(Combustion Lab)研究能源轉換與推進(Energy Conversion and Propulsion)中涉及的基礎燃燒問題，具體研究方面包括：
1，火焰動力學理論
2，多尺度燃燒過程的自適應數值模擬技術及套用
3，電漿助燃與減排技術
4，推進燃料、替代燃料、生物燃料的燃燒特性研究
5，極限（高溫高壓、超音速、微重力、近燃燒極限等）燃燒過程
6，化學反應動力學分析與反應機理簡化
