劇情梗概

1928年，義大利將軍諾比爾率領探險隊，乘坐一艘吉柏林飛船赴北極荒地的一次遠征。

他們在接近苔原荒地時遇險，圍困在那裡，等待救援。接著由挪威探險家羅納德·艾森孟海（肖恩·康納利飾）率領的援救隊伍前去支援他們。這是《雁南飛》導演米克哈爾·卡拉托佐夫跨國巨製亦是他的遺作，演員方面薈萃了肖恩·康納利、彼得·芬奇、克勞迪亞·卡迪納勒及後來的《西伯利亞理髮師》、《烈日灼人》的導演尼吉塔·米哈爾科夫，配樂方面則是義大利國寶級配樂大師顏尼歐·莫里康（“鏢客三部曲”、“往事三部曲”、《鐵面無私》、《天堂電影院》、《海上鋼琴師》、《西西里的美麗傳說》）。電影原始片長195分，上映時剪了70多分鐘。

劇情簡介

基督教《舊約全書》曾提到，以色列人的祖先雅各（Jacob）和妻子利亞（Leah）有一個女兒叫黛娜（Dinah，麗貝卡·弗格森扮演）——雖然《舊約全書》對此人只是一筆帶過，但她在本劇中是主人公。故事起始於黛娜的幸福童年，她童年的許多時光都在紅色的帳篷內

這四個妻子為：利亞（Leah，Minnie Driver扮演）、拉結（Rachel，Morena Baccarin）、悉帕（Zilpah）和辟拉（Bilhah）。其中利亞和拉結為正妻（且利亞為拉結的姐姐），悉帕和辟拉為妾（侍女）。黛娜逐漸長大、成熟、戀愛，但是她的愛情導致異常悲劇，徹底改變了一家人的命運。Debra Winger將扮演雅各的母親利百加（Rebecca），Will Tudor扮演黛娜的兄弟約瑟（Joseph）。黛娜本該嫁給一個王子，約瑟出面干預並與黛娜發生激烈矛盾，悲劇隨即發生。
