槍花在選擇Mike Clink之前曾經找過其他製作人，包括KISS樂隊的Paul Stanley。
很多fans和樂迷都認為，GNR最好最偉大最完美的專輯並不是雙CD的《Use Your Illusion》，而是這張從天而降、勢不可擋的打入主流音樂市場、完美融合了Blues，Heavy Metal，Hard Rock，Pop Metal，Grunge等各種元素的《Appetite for Destruction》。
在這張專輯裡，Slash和Izzy豐富渾厚靈活多變的雙吉他已經得到完全表現，Axl音質的多變和音域的寬廣也讓廣大樂迷嘆為觀止。
Slash在《Sweet Child O'Mine》里將一把Les Paul用得萬分愜意——前奏空靈優美，明朗清澈，與Duff的bass相輔相成，更襯託了Axl少年般明亮的音色。間奏長達1分鐘的Solo更是充分的展示了他的天賦技巧才華和魔力——他的神秘性感無人能及。

專輯名稱來自ROBERT WILLIAM的繪畫作品Appetite for Destruction，描述了一幅特別混亂瘋狂的場面：一個機器人為了給一個剛被人強姦的女孩報仇就生吞了強姦者。此畫也是本專輯的原始封面，之後因為這個封面專輯遭到封殺，樂隊不得不將專輯封面換成五個骷髏頭的樣子。
