國家傑出青年基金獲得者，入選國家百千萬人才工程，國家有突出貢獻的中青年專家，國家973項目首席科學家，全國農業科研傑出人才，北京市教學名師。國際豬獸醫學會（IPVS）執委會委員、農業部動物流行病學與人畜共患病重點實驗室主任、國家生豬產業技術體系疫病控制研究室主任和崗位專家、農業部動物防疫專家委員會豬病組組長、國家農業轉基因安全委員會副主任委員。現任中國畜牧獸醫學會秘書長、禽病學分會理事長、動物傳染病學分會副理事長、中國獸醫微生物學專業委員會副主任委員。主要從事豬繁殖與呼吸綜合徵等豬病毒性疫病的分子病原學與分子流行病學、診斷與防治技術、致病與免疫機制研究。主編《中國豬病學》、《動植物檢疫概論》、《動物免疫學》。在Journal of Virology、Autophagy、Virology等國外學術刊物發表SCI論文50餘篇。
2016年6月12日當選第五屆農業轉基因生物安全委員會委員。
