Founded in 1988, Lookout Ridge Winery is located high up 1800’ atop the Mayacamus Mountains overlooking the Sonoma and Napa Valleys and the majestic Golden Gate Bridge. Its award-winning wines are produced in limited quantities and are not available in any retail outlets.
The vineyards are managed under the caring and watchful eye of Phil Coturri. Phil’s philosophy is in sustainable organic farming. The Moon Mountain District is a perfect place to grow Zinfandel and Bordeaux varietals such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. It has a distinct microclimate marked by temperature inversions, so when it’s chilly on the Valley floor it’s significantly warmer on Moon Mountain with its south facing volcanic slopes.

Gordon Holmes, founder of Lookout Ridge, had a vision for the property and how he wanted to do things differently than other wineries. "I believe each winemaker has a particular passion for certain wines, and the method he or she uses to make that wine. I decided to build a "portfolio" of master winemakers, and I believe that's what makes Lookout Ridge unique."
Building on his early success with multiple winemakers, Gordon invited more top-notch winemakers to join his "portfolio." 2007 was an exciting year with the Portfolio growing to eight winemakers.
Marco DiGiulio was born and raised in San Francisco, California, shortly after his parents had emigrated from Tuscany and become successful Bay Area restauranteurs. As a result, Marco inherited his family's appreciation for great wine and food.
Marco developed an in-depth knowledge of winemaking and viticulture through education and experience in the industry. He graduated with a degree in Fermentation Science from the University of California at Davis in 1985.
After Buena Vista Winery, Marco worked as cellar master at Pine Ridge Winery for more than four years. His next stint was as the production manager for Atlas Peak Vineyards, followed by his 1994 appointment as winemaker for Pezzi King Vineyards.
Just before the 1995 harvest, he became the winemaker at Pepi Winery in Oakville. While making Pepi Wines, he also took charge of the Lokoya brand after the death of celebrated winemaker and mentor Greg Upton. It was at Lokoya that Marco's reputation for making world-class Cabernet Sauvignon was first established. Marco's wealth of experience and love of winemaking enables him to craft the finest wines from the rugged landscape that provides his inspiration.
