謝都全所著的《同構視角下動詞短語句法研究》提出一個對動詞句法結構和論元結構做出解釋的語言表征理論，即一個有關動詞論元如何在句法和語義結構中得以實現，動詞的語義如何從所假定的基本事件語義構成成分中推導出來的理論。書中構建了句法、論元和事件語義結構同構的理論，提取了基本的事件語言構成成分，所有語義共享這些組分，呈現參數化差異。該理論從結果結構、額外論元結構及跨語言的比較方面得到驗證。
