從1995年2月1日開始，Manic Street Preachers的所有專輯似乎都是在為Richey Edwards所作。這一天MSP的吉他手Edwards突然失蹤，一切毫無徵兆，有如人間蒸發，此後更是活未見人、死未見屍，至今下落未明。2008年11月23日，Edwards被推定死亡，成為搖滾樂史上最大的一宗謎團。
2013年樂隊擺脫解散傳聞後發行了這張專輯，主要用來懷念Richey Edwards。

專輯賞析
專輯以一種近乎讓時間凝滯的節奏和方式，將屬於MSP的那部“電影”在樂迷眼前一一“重現”，一切看似輕描淡寫，但琴弦撥過之處卻留下濃墨重彩的希冀與感傷。沒錯，感傷——1995年之後你就可以用這個詞來描述MSP的所有專輯了。從某種程度上來說，《Rewind The Film》與這個詞更為貼合。儘管首支單曲《Show Me The Wonder》從頭至尾都幾乎是踩著激昂的管樂行進的，但這依然無法掩蓋隱藏在歌曲背後的含義。《Rewind The Film》毫無疑問是MSP歷來最為內斂的一張作品，這並不僅僅體現在器樂編配上。從人聲上來說，他們首次改變了由James Dean Bradfield一人作主導的傳統，邀請到Lucy Rose、Richard Hawley、Cate Le Bon分別在《This Sullen Welsh Heart》、《Rewind The Film》、《4 Lonely Roads》中擔任演唱。另一方面，從歌詞上來說，MSP在這張專輯中唱出了自省、懷舊、絕望、批判，以及——就像他們在1995年之後的每張專輯裡都會做的那樣——對Richey Edwards的愛。
