madonna全名 Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone，生活在一個虔誠信仰天主教的大家庭。母親一共生了七個小孩，她的童年與青少年生活塑造出她的個性。5歲時母親過世，父兼母職一肩扛起家計，因此對小孩的教養特別嚴厲。父親定了很多生活上的規矩，也規定有很多種懲罰，在有條理的生活中，造就了她日後生活規律的習性，例如麥當娜曾說過她的所有歌曲中最諷刺的歌是 “Holiday”，這首歌叫大家生活放輕鬆點，不過既使是假日，她都要會事先計畫好，然後按計畫過她的假日，一點都不讓人覺得輕鬆;另外，在眾多兄弟姊妹中，想要受到父親關注，就得做一些特別的事，她因此用功念書，用成績來得到父親的獎勵，不過當父親再娶後，她發現要得到注意，只能從外面的世界，於是她不再把希望放在爸爸一個人身上，她告訴自己，她要很多人愛她!童年的特殊家庭環境提供了她許多創作的源泉，包括 “Oh Father”、 “Keep It Together”、 “Deeper and Deeper”、 “Inside of Me”、 “Mother and Father”、 “Mer Girl”，在這些歌當中你都會發現家庭對她的影響是多么重大。
