Foreigner簡介
1977年樂隊甫一發行同名處女作便告成功，樂隊成員在此之前雖然都不是太順利，但是在樂隊成立後卻一帆風順。吉他手Jones和主唱Lou Gramm的表現深得聽眾歡心，他們的創作方式也正中普通聽眾下懷，他們的音樂在硬搖滾的主線下強調動聽的旋律和令人印象深刻的吉他riff，並經常進行換湯不換藥的形式變換以保持音樂的新鮮感，從而在商業上取得了極大的成功，單曲專輯兩頭開花。之後他們頻頻參加一些大型主流搖滾樂隊的演出，並迅速擴大了知名度。在接連推出兩張成功的唱片之後，1982年，經過人事變動的樂隊推出他們的鎮宅之作《4》，這是商業成功作品的參照標準，精良細緻，值得從業人員研究。之後樂隊開始以較為沉穩的心態進行發展，在商業上保持了成功，甚至在主唱Lou Gramm離隊後也是如此。
同名首作於1977年發行，便立即以"Feels Like The First Time"、"Long, Long Way From Home"還有2人的合寫曲"Cold As Ice"受到歡迎，銷售大賣了500萬張；1978年他們再以專輯《Double Vision》橫掃千軍，專輯銷售超越了700萬張、獲得7張白金唱片認證，並誕生了代表曲"Hot Blooded"，來年又再以專輯“Head Games”單獨在美國開出500萬的銷售紅盤，祭出金曲"Dirty White Boy"。團員始終維持為6人的編制，在70年末開始有了變動，不過Mick Jones與Lou Gramm始終維繫了良好的默契。進入80年代後，1981的專輯《4》成為他們的經典代表，至今也賣出了700萬張，擁有了"Urgent"、"Waiting For A Girl Like You"2支超紅單曲，再隨著MTV世代的開啟，1984年Foreigner以"I Want To Know What Love Is"成為該年度電視與電台的最受歡迎曲。1986年，Mick Jones成為製作人、為Bad Company的《Fame And Fortune》還有Van Halen的《5150》操刀；Lou Gramm則發行個人專輯《Ready Or Not》；1987年，他倆歸隊完成了新作《Inside Information》，其中的"Say You Will"、"I Don’t Want To Live Without You"雙雙成為了暢銷曲。1990年與2003年，Lou Gramm兩度脫隊，Foreigner從此也換了新主唱Kelly Hansen，但都僅以巡迴演唱為主，而沒有新作產生。
I Want to Know What Love Is：曾是“Foreigner”最成功的單曲之一，在英美兩地都奪得了當年的冠軍，並且在2004年，這首歌被滾石雜誌評為了史上最偉大的500首歌的476位。Mariah Carey全新演繹的《I Want to Know What Love Is》是由著名製作人C. "Tricky" Stewart、Big Jim以及瑪麗亞凱莉本人重新製作。這首歌在很大程度上同原曲保持了一致，但是鋼琴部分則被重新編制，換成了更為現代的風格，沒有了80年代的古典氣息。這首新歌於2009年8月28日在歐洲的電台首播，隨即通過網路傳遍了世界每個角落。Mariah Carey新專輯《Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel》的單曲I Want to Know What Love Is，這首歌也是翻唱自搖滾樂隊“Foreigner”1984年的同名經典歌曲，原作者為Mick Jones。很多人接觸的版本也多是MC的版本。
