1991年的12月，Therion樂團錄製完成了第二張的專輯<Beyond Sanctorum>，並於隔年發行，而這張專輯相較於上一張而言可說有相當的進步，一些新元素如鍵盤及女音vocal的加入，對於當時的一個Death metal團來說可謂是極少見的，而這樣的改變除了一些傳統的Death metal迷一時較難以接受外，金屬界普遍而言都對這種新方向抱以非常肯定支持的態度，這也正是Therion未來所要走的路。

We begun to experiment with more keyboards as well as some clean male and some female singing. We found out that we wanted to add different elements to our music and in one song we even had some persian (similar to arabic) folk music tunes

這張<Beyond Sanctorum>也是2000年重新發布的版本，同樣增加了幾首demo。就如上所述，專輯中出現了女聲和鍵盤，甚至融合了波斯民間音樂的元素， 比如Symphony Of The Dead（中間的女聲和聲和guitar solo非常的棒），比如Paths ，我們非常欣喜的看到Therion走出了他們自己的風格。
