1989年，張國榮在韓國發行的粵語專輯《The Greatest Hits of Leslie Cheung》在韓國大賣三十萬張，創造了華語唱片在韓國的銷量紀錄。1995年，張國榮發行的專輯《寵愛》再次刷新自己的紀錄，其中一曲爵士風格的《A Thousand Dreams Of You》一度攀升至韓國流行歌曲排行榜榜首。
