遠東國立大學是俄羅斯歷史上最悠久的大學之一，它是1899年由當時的沙皇尼古拉二世創立的，時稱東方學院，也是俄羅斯遠東地區第一所高等學府。它是俄羅斯聯邦遠東地區最大的一所大學。遠東國立大學是俄羅斯遠東地區和中國之間在教育和科學領域內發展合作的主要平台。
